These Sourdough Butter Crackers are sure to knock your socks off. Seriously, they are that good (and I rarely wear socks).
They are crispy, flaky and full of flavor. Oh, and did I mention they are very easy to make. They are made with 4 simple ingredients, so you won't feel guilty after you eat the entire batch (like I almost did!).
SOURDOUGH BUTTER CRACKERS
Ingredients:
200g active sourdough starter (or discard)
200g flour (I prefer bread)
8 T (1 stick) unsalted butter (melted)
5g sea salt
Instructions:
1) Preheat oven 375F. In a large mixing bowl, add melted butter, starter, flour and salt. Use a spoon to stir until the flour is incorporated.
2) Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 30 minutes - for cold ferment place dough in fridge for 1-2 days).
3) Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to about 1/16th inch thickness. Using a pizza cutter or bench scraper, cut the dough into rectangles.
4) Puncture each rectangle a few times with a fork.
5) Bake the crackers for 15-20 minutes, or until they just start turning brown. Allow to cool before breaking.
Let me know if you try these!
